Completed Residency in Immunology at University Hospital 12 de Octubre, Madrid. PhD Degree from the Universidad Complutense, Madrid. Since 1995 staff member in the Department of Immunology at the Hospital Universitario de Gran Canaria Dr Negrín, Gran Canaria, and associate professor of Clinical Immunology at the School of Medicine at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain. In the Department of Immunology he deals with immunological disorders, mainly in the field of primary immunodeficiencies. Research interest include primary immunodeficiencies and the genetic basis of the variability in susceptibility to and severity of pneumococcal disease in adults and children. He is currently the chairman of the Spanish Registry for Immunodeficiencies.
